Jordan and Alenna have much to smile about. And not just to show off their beautiful pearly whites thanks to the fact that both are dentists with degrees from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Together the duo is a formidable team, possessing bachelors and also masters degrees from Georgetown and the University of Maryland, where it all began nine years prior. The pair met freshman year there in the dorms, and when they finally had a class together — organic chemistry — Alenna requested Jordan be her study partner. Needless to say, there was very little “studying” going on. The pair instantly connected and a relationship began. They will embark on their residencies and are eager to begin post-collegiate life.

To pop the question, Jordan thoughtfully chose a quiet corner in their world to ask Alenna to be his wife, partner, and companion on a lazy Sunday morning. Despite the chaos of the year 2020 surrounding most people, the tranquil beauty of their love superseded any noise of the pandemic that day. After a perfect breakfast at a quaint coffee shop, following a brisk morning walk around the nearby river, Jordan led Alenna to a beautiful rose garden to take some pictures. At that moment he gently grabbed her hands and uttered words that were incomprehensible to Alenna as she had not yet begun to process what was actually taking place. Then, Jordan knelt down on bended knee, to Alenna’s surprise, and it became clear to her, he was proposing. She still couldn’t fully believe it until the ring was on her finger.

Alenna and Jordan took photos on the cobblestoned streets around Old Town Alexandria, VA, rather than their original plan of Washington, D.C. It was around the time of the Presidential Inauguration so downtown was off limits. Yet, the couple had fun with various outfits and styles in their elaborate engagement photo session. They were sure to incorporate their Greek organizations of Alpha Phi Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta into the mix. Equally, if not more important, was the donning of their earned and highly deserved white doctor’s coats, “because representation matters,” Alenna said. We couldn’t agree more. They wed on May 1st, 2021 in Madison, VA.
