Jordan, a field application scientist, is a man who knows what he wants. This was made apparent to Amber in his pointed and thoughtful courting of her, which began after the two met online and then had their first phone call. Amber, a business intelligence manager and graduate of The Ohio State University, recalls Jordan asked some direct questions, right off the bat. Although his inquisitiveness may not have been sexy or suave, Amber appreciated it because she could see he had a dedication to honesty and integrity. After learning more about Jordan, who attended Black Hills State University and then University of South Dakota for medical school, it made sense that his interactions were on the scientific side – after all that is his job. The pair agreed to have an atypical first date, which was at the gym. It didn’t take long for Amber and Jordan to fall in love. However, the Covid pandemic thwarted their plans for physically getting to go on many more dates. Though Amber and Jordan took things in stride, and being quarantined together actually afforded them the opportunity to really get to know one another on the deepest levels. Working from home and being together non-stop was actually great practice for what each hoped would someday be marriage.

A shared hobby of Jordan and Amber is hiking, backpacking and camping. Jordan and Amber planned a multi-day backpacking trip to Yosemite National Park. This was where Jordan knew what he truly wanted to do: propose. That is until just days before their trip, wildfires caused California to announce they were shutting down Yosemite and all national forests. Needless to say, Jordan became a bit stressed, as he’d need to reconfigure his proposal plan. Amber noticed his change in demeanor but shrugged it off. Thankfully the couple was able go to Sequoia National Park instead. Jordan’s plan could still go off without a hitch this way. After a grueling hike to their campsite at Emerald Lake, Amber was exhausted but Jordan lured her over to the lakeside and set up a tripod for them to capture a photo. As soon as the button was pressed, Jordan ran over to Amber, got down on one knee and proposed just as the camera snapped the shot.
