Couple weds at dawn in a springtime elopement in the mountains of Colorado Springs, Colorado

Real Weddings: Brittany & Joval

Brittany and Joval married in a dream-like elopement atop the Rocky Mountains, overlooking the stunning view of their home of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their love story began after they had met through the popular dating website, Plenty of Fish. Joval, a sales manager and graduate of Penn State University, and Brittany, a licensed massage therapist, hit it off instantly, and began dating long term. It was in October 2021, on a trip to Mexico with a group of friends, that Joval proposed in the most romantic and unexpected way. The couple had planned a tour of the ruins, snorkeling, and a visit to the underground cenotes, but little did Brittany know that Joval had something planned that would change their lives. After the tour, Joval whisked her off to take a walk on the beach, and when they returned to the vacation home, it was lit up but their friends weren’t there. Unperturbed, Joval guided Brittany upstairs, which he had lined with rose petals, and she opened the bedroom door to find more rose petals and pictures from every date and trip they had taken together, strung up with lights. Brittany began to realize Joval was about to propose at this point. Joval asked her to read aloud a poem he’d written, and when she finished, he was down on one knee. Their friends were all on the next balcony watching with joy. Six months later, in April of 2022, just as the rays of dawn were creeping into the sky, the couple wed at six in the morning. Following their tranquil, private ceremony, they opted for a breakfast picnic amongst the boulders. One of the most precious moments their photographer captured was when the little butterflies that the couple purchased to release once everything was official did not fly away due to the temperature being ever the slightest bit too chilly. The butterflies all began to cling to Joval and Brittany, clustering on their clothing and making for a beautiful and symbolic union between humans and nature on that breathtaking morning that began the rest of their lives.
