Religious, neutral monochromatic micro wedding ceremony in Miami, Florida

Real Weddings: Danielle & Damilare

The Covid pandemic has given rise to a new wedding trend: the microwedding. While the name implies a tiny event, there’s no shortage of oomph in these nuptials. Danielle and Damilare found a way to go forward with their expression of love, not allowing the restrictions of the pandemic damper their ability to solidify their union. Danielle and “Dami” as she sweetly nicknames him, met at church in their native country of Barbados, thought they eventually moved to Miami, FL during their courtship. And while Danielle was on the island visiting her sister one day, Dami cleverly tricked her into believing he was on a flight home to Miami. In reality, he had a set up of lights in the shape of a heart on the beach, and was waiting in the sand in the middle of the heart for Danielle to be brought to the beach by her sister so he could propose. For their wedding, Danielle and Dami had to sacrifice many things such as a large reception where their international set of friends and family could come celebrate, not being able to take a honeymoon right away, no first dance and even Danielle’s father was unable to attend due to Covid restrictions, so her mother walked her down the aisle. But because love prevails, the couple knew it was more important to be united in the church in the form of a ceremony, where 25 guests attended. Danielle took the opportunity to make the ceremony as celebratory as possible — DIYing some décor, having appetizer-size noshes and cupcakes. Dami and Danielle hope to one day have that reception of their dreams, but in the meantime, they are still floating on cloud nine.
