One day Hillary was with a friend at their location grocery store grabbing snacks to take with them to the movies. It was on that little errand that Markus happened to see Hillary at that grocery store in Atlanta, GA and he found a way to make conversation. Markus, who hails from Switzerland, even used his suave accent, speaking in his native Swiss French to try and impress her. Hillary, who is a graduate of Georgia State University, was certainly intrigued. The two began a relationship that, as Hillary put it “has always been filled with wonderful surprises, whether it’s gifts or just simple flowers to say I love you.”

Ever a romantic, and big on showering his love with gifts and affection, Markus planned perhaps the most important surprise for Hillary in their relationship thus far. Since the couple had been discussing taking the next step, Hillary knew a proposal could be on the horizon. Though that never dampened the surprise she received in the form of Markus kneeling, ring in hand, at the Georgia Aquarium. In keeping with the ocean theme, though likely subliminally, the couple scheduled an early spring engagement shoot on the idyllic shores of Tybee Island in front of the lighthouses and a pink, dusky sky. The island is south of the mainland city of Savannah, GA, where the couple are set to have their winter wedding in December of 2023.
