Because Jay and Wil are runners, they understand that some things in life take stamina and pacing, and that some things are absolutely worth the chase. Wil figured this out soon after he laid eyes on Jay and knew she was someone he felt compelled to get to know. He implored their mutual friend Greg (who consequently became the officiant for their future wedding) to make an introduction. Wil knew Greg through a runner’s club they belonged to in San Diego, CA. Turns out Jay was also into the pastime, though she wasn’t living in San Diego at the time – she was in town for an interview. As fate would have it, Jay eventually got a job there, and upon moving to the city she fell right in sync with the runner’s club. Wil recognized this was his chance and he began to “chase” the woman who would one day become his wife. Jay, on the other hand was a bit jaded from past relationship hurts, though undeterred Wil relied on his stamina to pursue her for the better part of a year, until Jay couldn’t help but feel the comfort of all their commonalities. Jay realized she had found her person.

Another interest the couple adopted was that of becoming wine enthusiasts. They planned a trip to Paso Robles, CA, to visit some wineries. On the first night there, while dining at a fancy Italian restaurant, Jay couldn’t help but notice that Wil was acting differently. She noticed he was quieter than usual and seemed to be a bit anxious. Jay excused herself to the restroom and upon returning she noticed the server was at the table holding a cellphone. As soon as Jay sat back down, Wil began professing his intentions for their future, and then was down on one knee proposing. Calmly and lovingly, Jay took his face into her hands, exhaled deeply and said yes. Wil and Jay tied the knot on September 23, 2021 in La Jolla, CA.
