New Orleans, Louisiana couple swipes right to find each other and has classy emerald engagement shoot in the French Quarter

Real Engagements: Jerica & Ken

Jerica and Ken met through a dating app after both decided to “swipe right” on one another. Jerica, a registered nurse and graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University accepted an invitation from Ken, who’s an operations supervisor, to go on a first date. The date was a success – they talked for hours. Yet, as sometimes happens in life, they lost touch with one another not long after that foretelling date. Neither fully let go of the notion that there was something special about their connection. Ken, who attended Louisiana State University, and Jerica managed to reconnect on social media and asked her out on a long-awaited second date. The pair have now been together four years and counting. As Jerica likes to say it was “the best right swipe ever.”

Ken chose a pivotal time and place to propose to the woman of his dreams. In August of 2020, despite whatever global disarray was taking place around them, Ken and Jerica snuck away to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico about a week prior to Jerica’s birthday. While dining at an oceanfront restaurant, watching the blood-orange sunset over the horizon, Jerica was caught by surprise when their server offered to take a picture of the couple. At that same time, Ken, who had this planned out with the server, had dropped down to one knee and was proposing to his future bride.

Because Ken is from New Orleans, it was an easy choice for the couple to decide on where to take their engagement photos. They wanted to capture The French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park and the architecture that makes New Orleans so unique. Jerica and Ken wed in October of 2021 in Metairie, LA.
