Real Weddings: Kayla & Travone

It was of no consequence to her college roommate at the University of Mississippi that Kayla was already seeing someone, when she implored Kayla to meet Travone. According to her roommate, a cousin of Travone’s, he was a better match for her – one that would at the least not make her cry daily. Thankfully, Kayla had an instinct and an open mind.  After meeting Travone, who is currently a renovations project manager, the two began to interact more and soon enough, Kayla had replaced her ill-fitting with the man who would someday be her husband. Kayla, a current medical student, was studying abroad in Barbados, and Travone thought it would be perfect to surprise her with a sunset proposal on a rocky cliff surrounded by flowers and a photographer capturing the special moment. Kayla was completely taken aback and couldn’t have imagined a better proposal. Due to Kayla’s preparation for her medical licensing exams, their original plans for a traditional wedding ceremony had to be postponed. Instead, they opted for a private elopement in May of 2022. Their intimate ceremony took place in the Garden of Roses, in Columbus, OH, beneath a timeless white gazebo. There they exchanged beautiful hand-written vows. The couple captured moments from the marriage license step up through the altar with a vintage polaroid camera.
