Whimsical, airy garden wedding with Mexican influences and pastel hues in Dallas, Texas
Real Weddings: Melanie & Auggie
While at home for college winter break in Maryland, Melanie and Auggie had a chance meeting at the movies. Auggie got Melanie’s contact information right away and the two began a long distance friendship once both returned to their respective schools. After 1.5 years of speaking daily and “courting” from afar, the two became an item and eventually made it official through an engagement. Auggie proposed to Melanie during sunset off of a pier in Dallas with a photographer documenting the moment. Melanie, who attended Howard University and is in social media marketing, is a natural planner so she was undaunted by the thought of carrying out her wedding vision with Auggie’s help. Both love entertaining and their goal was to provide various ways for their 115 guests to enjoy the entire wedding weekend with them. The first night, the couple had a welcome party on the rooftop of Alamo Drafthouse movie theater; they had an after party at The Statler downtown post-wedding, and then a brunch on the final day. There were many ways their friends and family, many of whom traveled to see the couple wed, could celebrate with them in addition to the big day. On their wedding day, Auggie, who graduated from Morehouse College, saw his bride float down the aisle in a Marchesa wedding gown, escorted by her father. The pair exchanged written vows that included a fateful tweet Melanie published only five minutes after meeting Auggie at the movie theater that one night. After officially becoming Mr. & Mrs., the fun-loving pair, who were inspired by Spanish and Mexican influences for their wedding theme, burst into their grand reception space to Heavy D’s “Now That We’ve Found Love,” and of course, that got the party started right away.
