Sabiyah and Jason found love early on and knew it was the real deal, so they held on tight. The pair met in high school and have been together for over ten years. Throughout college and beyond, Sabiyah and Jason had each other to lean on and could navigate new phases of adulthood with one another. Education separated the Detroit, MI couple physically for a time, but the pair stayed the course. Sabiyah remained in Michigan, attending the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, while Jason headed South to go to Tuskegee University in Alabama. Upon graduation, after long distance dating, they reunited — Sabiyah began working in financial services and Jason became an architect.

Though Jason knew Sabiyah was “the one” for years, he wanted to make sure he had everything lined up just right to propose. For his plan, he actually recruited Sabiyah, asking her to arrange a photoshoot for the two of them for his birthday, which she obliged, and didn’t suspect anything. On the day of the photoshoot, while being photographed, family and friends of the couple came out from behind a wall, to Sabiyah’s surprise. Suddenly, Jason was down on one knee proposing.

For their engagement shoot, the couple knew they wanted to be downtown in their hometown of Detroit, amongst all of the skyscrapers. To compliment the scenery, they wore neutral colors that would pair well with the rugged, urban cityscape. The couple wed on August 14, 2021 in Troy, MI.
