The dating app Bumble is what brought Sherri onto Tulashi’s radar. A marketing manager with a degree from University of South Florida, Tulashi knew Sherri was a catch and he wasted no time becoming her boyfriend. Later, he planned out Sherri’s ideal proposal. Sherri, a cloud engineer and graduate of Spelman College, was preparing to have some headshots taken one day. She was all dolled up and in a nice outfit, and Tulashi knew this would be a prime time to finagle getting her family and friends together to witness him pop the question, despite it being in the midst of a global pandemic. After the photoshoot, Tulashi wined and dined Sherri at one of their favorite rooftop pizza spots in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. He then lured her to the Millennium Gate Museum, where she was surprised as photographers jumped out of the bushes to capture Tulashi down on one knee. Once he secured the best “yes” of his life, he presented Sherri with a pink dress and new shoes to put on, and he whisked her off to dinner reservations. That’s where their loved ones were waiting to celebrate, unbeknownst to Sherri. Tulashi even coordinated getting her best friend who lives in Maryland to fly in. Though Covid did throw a curveball at them when it came time to wed. The couple opted to have an intimate civil ceremony first, at none other than the Millennium Gate Museum, in the Spring of 2021. Though the couple stayed true to their plans to have the larger, religious and multicultural portion of the wedding at a later time. So a few months later in August of 2021, Sherri, the youngest child of her family, finally had her turn to be escorted down the aisle by her father. The couple made sure to honor Tulashi’s late father during the tradition of lighting a unity candle, as well as “he had his and other family pictures included on the inside of his tuxedo on the vest he wore,” Sherri explained. Sherri has an uncle who is a pastor in Illinois, and he flew in to not only watch his niece get married but to officiate the wedding itself, adding another sentimental component to the ceremony. Tulashi’s background is Liberian so he and Sherri made sure to carry on some Liberian wedding traditions through food and dance.
